Rowing: Four Loyola boats put in oars for nationals

Three Loyola Academy boats placed second at the Midwest Scholastic Championship in Cincinnati last week.
In total, four boats secured their place at the Scholastic Rowing Association of America National Championship today (Thursday) and Friday in Camden, N.J.
Both Loyola men’s varsity eights and women’s varsity eight placed second, while the men’s junior varsity eights came in third.
The Midwest Scholastic Rowing Association also honored five Loyola juniors for academic excellence and championship rowing: Egan Berne (Evanston); Sam Durkin (Chicago); John Hocter (Glencoe); Bobby Murphy (Glencoe); and Conor Walsh (Glenview).
Six seniors will row in college: Ian Buchanan (Wisconsin); Austin Johnson of Libertyville (Yale); Emma Knorps of Wilmette (Michigan); Patrick Muto of Barrington (Wisconsin); Nora Shepard of Evanston (Michigan); and John Sullivan of Glenview (Cornell).
