Girls Basketball: Trevians knock off Marian Catholic

Jessica Blackwell scored nine of her game-best 20 points in the fourth quarter Saturday to lead New Trier to a 58-53 win over No. 17-ranked Marian Catholic at the Sweet 16 tournament at Lake Zurich.
The Trevians (17-7) trailed 42-40 after three quarters, but they rallied in the final eight minutes. Eileen Hurley’s two free throws with six seconds to play secured the team’s fourth victory in a row.
Maggie Lyon added 12 points in the win, the team’s second in two days over a ranked team. New Trier beat No. 19 Glenbrook South 31-29 on Friday.
Marian Catholic’s Alanna Ferry had a team-high 16 points. Megan Walsh scored 12, while Ashton Millender contributed 10 points in the loss.
