Opposed to fence

I am totally opposed to the Park District decision erecting a fence on the only free access to Wilmette beaches. Those of us who cherish solitude - of frolicking kidlets and concession stand smells of dubious a nature - want to maintain a place to enjoy our lake and natural stretch of sand with natural growth.

I came from Chicago, where beaches are free for everyone to enjoy. Why does Wilmette have to charge ever-creeping fees and create so many ridiculous rules?

You gave a slice of beachfront to the dogs. Why not save some for residents who want to read and sun and walk in peace?
