About 30 first-graders enjoyed a “world of celebrations” late last month at Christian Heritage Academy in Northfield. Teachers Lory Reinisch and Meghan Price helped the children “board an airplane” in the classroom and travel to six countries: Columbia, Ethiopia, India, Jamaica, Mexico and Taiwan. Different classrooms were decorated to represent each country where the children tasted the local cuisine, and learned folk dances and phrases in the native language. Parents and volunteers, some who were born in the country the students visited, served as their guides.
Christian Heritage Academy, at 315 Waukegan Road, Northfield offers a pre-school to high school education based on biblical values. For more information, about the academy or its May 5 Family Fest, look at the website, http://christianheritage.org.
