The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Wilmette and Kenilworth Police Departments. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court, Skokie, unless indicated otherwise.
Wilmette
DUI
Mary K. Maloney, 59, of 1109 N. Euclid in Oak Park, is scheduled to appear June 18 in Cook County Court on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and improper lane use, following a May 16 incident that ended on the 1900 block of Lake Avenue.
DRUGS
Eric H. Schulyer, 43, of 1605 Dempster St. in Evanston, is scheduled to appear in Cook County Court June 9 on a charge of attempted possession of marijuana, following a May 15 incident at the CTA’s Linden Avenue station. Police said they arrested Schulyer as part of a drug investigation.
THEFT
An Evanston woman told police May 15 that someone took two Asiatic lilies that she’d planted at her plot in the Centennial Park public garden, sometime after she installed them May 13. She discovered the loss May 14; the plants were estimated to cost $100.
A Wilmette teen told police May 17 that someone stole his iPod, valued at about $300, from where he had stored it at the Sheridan Shore Yacht Club, where he was taking sailing lessons. The incident took place May 8, at a time when his and other students’ belongings had apparently been searched. The items weren’t secured, because the building’s doors were all locked and people needed a code to get in. Since the theft students have had new means to guard their belongings, he said. Police also reported that the club’s sailing director told police May 16 about several thefts, and related auto burglaries at the club. The director was collecting further information on the incidents, police said.
A Wilmette resident told police May 16 that someone stole his daughter’s bicycle that day from where it had been locked in the bicycle rack at McKenzie School, 649 Prairie Ave.
A resident of the 1500 block of Lake Avenue told police May 12 that numerous electronic items and pieces of clothing went missing from his home between Jan. 1 of 2011 and May 12 of this year. He said the only people with access to the items were a nanny and a cleaning service, both of whom he fired. He refused to give police contact information on either the nanny or the service.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident of the 1700 block of Highland Avenue told police May 19 that someone sprayed 12 parkway trees on the block with orange-colored smiley faces. The damage took place the previous day.
Kenilworth
DRUGS
Clark G. Dynek, 22, of 2124 Middlefork Road in Northfield, was arrested May 15 and given a village ordinance citation for possessing marijuana, following a traffic stop that took place on the 400 block of Green Bay Road.
BURGLARY
A resident of the 400 block of Abbotsford Road told police May 18 that someone tried to get into his house while they were out, breaking glass next to his front door. No one actually got into the house, and police are investigating the incident.
THEFT
A resident of the 500 block of Kenilworth Avenue told police May 17 that someone had made several unauthorized transactions on one of her credit cards.
