wilmette — Park district officials have arranged two November dates for residents to learn more about three proposals for the future of Wilmette’s lakefront parks, ahead of a final December Park Board hearing on the issue.

Letters about the sessions should hit village mailboxes this week, “inviting them to continue to be part of the planning process … so they can walk the parks, view the alternatives, ask questions and share their thoughts,” parks Communications Manager Shelagh Donoghue said Oct. 18.

The first, set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 10, will start at Lakeview Center in Gillson Park. It will feature a short presentation, followed by a walk through Gillson and Langdon Parks to see where improvements outlined in the SmithGroupJJR consulting group proposals might be implemented.

The second session is a Nov. 15 open house, which will also take place from 7-9 p.m. at Lakeview Center. The proposals will be on display, and members of the consulting team that drafted them, along with Park District staff, will be available to answer questions, Donoghue said.

Both dates are ahead of the Dec. 10 public hearing on the master plan proposals, set to take place at 7:30 p.m. during the park board’s regular meeting. That takes place at Wilmette Village Hall, 1200 Wilmette Ave.

Park board members received the three proposals at their Oct. 8 meeting. Work on the lakefront’s future has been in the works for several years.
