Brad Burke, who has been Kenilworth village manager for more than five years, has been credentialed by the Washington, D.C.-based International City/County Management Association.
Village President Fred Steingraber praised Burke for improving the village’s administrative procedures, helping to balance its budget and for leading the reorganization of Kenilworth’s Public Works operation.
In a release last week, Steingraber also cited Burke’s work in helping to update an intergovernmental agreement between the village and the Kenilworth Park District.
“The community is most fortunate to have a very knowledgeable and dedicated village manager, who is so effective in focusing on village priorities and achieving results,” he said.
Burke was hired in 2006, after serving as assistant village administrator in Lake Bluff between 2004 and 2006; prior to that he served in Gurnee between 1996 and 2004, first as public information officer, then in interim finance and building and zoning positions and finally as assistant village administrator.
He is a member of ICMA, and the Illinois City/County Management Association, serving on several committees for the latter.
The ICMA voluntary credential program requires a member to have significant senior management experience in local government. He or she must have earned a degree, preferably in public administration or a related field, and must have demonstrated a commitment to life-long professional development and integrity.
