Fall Trend Fashion Event 2012 debuts in high style

The hottest ticket on Chicago’s North Shore delivered everything it promised on Thursday evening, Oct. 11 at Pinstripes in Northbrook.
With sizzling models striding the runway in the season’s sharpest colors and styles, auction items that included a signed Gucci bag and a note handwritten note by Oprah Winfrey herself , the Pioneer Press Fall Trend Fashion Event 10.11.12 was an October affair to remember.
The evening was also a fundraiser, with Ronald McDonald House Charities as the beneficiary.
Festivities began at 6 p.m. as VIP guests entered through the Northbrook Pinstripes gateway arch, on the way, passing a pair of brand new white and silver Lincolns parked near the restaurant’s Willow Festival entrance.
Inside, VIP ticket holders were treated to hors d’oeuvres and hot pink “Trendtinis,” specially created drinks as bright as everyone’s spirits.
Frances Heffernan of Winnetka was among the exclusive list of fashion providers to Fall Trend Fashion Event 10.11.12, and paid tribute to one of the classic tones that promises to be a fall favorite.
“We’re featuring cozy knits and the color of our season is green, fifty shades of green,” said Jamie Pawlow, buyer at Frances Heffernan, a boutique celebrating its 80th anniversary.
“Green goes with everything and jewel tones are a popular pop of color.”
More surprisingly gorgeous jewel tones showed up on the richly dyed fine furs shown by York Furrier, with shops in Elmhurst and Deer Park.
Peacock blue and deep, regal hues on evening gowns and other elegant looks made a strong showing, courtesy of Neiman Marcus of Northbrook, GIGI BOTTEGA of Evanston and CB of Lake Forest.
Black looked fabulous as ever, especially worn by dancers from Arthur Murray Dance Studios who performed as they moved along the runway.
Prior to the show, Alan Kossof of Northfield’s Teddie Kossof Salon Spa had made sure models were expertly coiffed before their catwalk tour.
Guests were amazed and delighted with a glimpse Kossof Salon magic at work just before the show. Downstairs in a temporary salon overlooking the runway (which featured a dramatic black and white “step and repeat” style paparazzi gallery of spotlights), Kossof himself, dapper in a James Bond-worthy tuxedo, finalized coiffures of the models just before they stepped onto the catwalk.
“It’s always a pleasure to watch my staff work,” said Kossof. “They’re (stylists) are true artisans.”
And a live show requires their best. “When you work with professional models, you really have more leeway because they’re there to perform,” said Kossoff.
The looks, like so much else in the evening, were phenomenal.
Kossof also noted: “This show was a wonderful experience and this is a great start to a great tradition by the Chicago Sun-Times and Pioneer Press on the North Shore.”
Julie Karagianis, a 22-year Northbrook resident, was delighted to be supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities.
“I think it’s one of the most worthwhile causes,” she said. “Anything that has to do with children is very important and Ronald McDonald House fulfills a need.”
