Snow enthusiasts get ready.
Start lacing up those ice skates, finding all the warm clothing you have and pull your sleds out of storage.
All activities are weather permitting. Make sure to check conditions before venturing to any location.

SNOWSHOEING AND CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING
The Morton Arboretum, 4100 Rte 53, Lisle, offers showshoeing and cross-country skiing on its 4.5 mile looped track on days with four or more inches of snow on the ground. Equipment is available for rent in Arbor Court or bring your own. Cross-country ski rental fees for two hours is $13 member, $15 nonmember; all day rental is $18 members, $20 nonmembers. Snowshoe rental fees for two hours is $10 member, $8 member child (10 years and younger), $12 nonmember and $10 nonmember child (10 years and younger). All day rentals are $14 members, $12 member child (10 years and younger), $16 nonmember, $14 nonmember child (10 years and younger).
The Forest Preserve District of Dupage County offers snowshoeing on the forest preserve trails. Showshoe rentals are available for two hours at $5 and all day for $10, cash only. All rentals end at 2 p.m. Cross-country skiing is also available when conditions are right. For a full list of trails and other winter sports, head to www.dupageforest.com. The Lake County Forest Preserves offers cross-country skiing along any forest preserve hiking trail as long as there is snow on the ground except at Ryerson Conservation Area, where at least four inches of snow is required.
