Mr. Singer spotlights audience in Wilmette

The audience will be nearly as busy as the trio of entertainers when Mr. Singer & the Sharp Cookies perform at the Wilmette Theatre, 1122 Central Ave., at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26.

“We try to put a little something in each song for the kids to join in with,” Mr. Singer said. “We’re going to do some dancing, some freeze dancing. We’ve got call-and-response songs. We’ve got singalongs where the kids direct the subjects of the songs.”

Mr. Singer will be assisted by Sharp Cookies Kerry Appleberry and Marius Mustard.

“Kerry will bring kids onstage and do some Hawaiian dancing with them,” he said. “We’ve got some costumes for the kids to wear.”

The group will perform several songs from its new album, “Bouncing Ball of Energy,” which comes out the week of the concert.

It’s a tragedy

Sophocles’ Greek classic “Antigone” will be performed by children ages 8 to 18 in Mudlark Theater Company’s original adaptation at 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 6 p.m. Sunday, May 24-27, at Next Theatre, 927 Noyes St., Evanston. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students and children.

Fathers can treat their little girls to a special evening at the Daddy-Daughter Date Night & Dance: An Enchanted Evening from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 1, at Kohl Children’s Museum, 2100 Patriot Blvd., Glenview.
