Thrill to Circus in Progress in Evanston
Updated: May 17, 2012 7:50PM
Exciting new circus artworks will thrill your family at Circus in Progress at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at the Actors Gymnasium, Noyes Cultural Arts Center, 927 Noyes St., Evanston.
“We call it an evening of daring new work,” said Larry DiStasi, artistic director. “We feature our advanced students working on some advanced pieces that they’ve just developed. Our faculty and staff also perform some pieces and our master teacher, Sylvia Hernandez DiStasi, will be performing as well.”
Every Circus in Progress show includes professional circus performers as well as other groups from the area. This year, performers from Evanston Children’s Choir and Evanston Dance Ensemble are featured.
“It’s kind of an evening of variety — almost a neo-vaudeville kind of evening,” DiStasi said. “Anything that can be contained in five minutes that stands on its own as an act is fair game.”
Tickets are $10.
