Scattered thunderstorms, humid conditions expected for Thursday

A hazardous weather outlook was issued early Thursday, warning of thunderstorms that could bring heavy rainfall, flooding and wind gusts to the Chicago area on Thursday morning.

Scattered thunderstorms were expected in Northwest and North Central Illinois early Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service. The storms were predicted to diminish through mid to late morning as they move east.

Forecasters said the storms could produce heavy rainfall, localized flooding and wind gusts above 35 mph.

Hot, humid weather was also in the mix for Thursday — with heat index readings expected to peak near 100 degrees, and high temperatures between 87 and 91 degrees, according to the weather outlook.
