Police Blotter: Cops discover man on bench wanted on California parole warrant

The following arrests were listed among the official reports of the Wilmette and Kenilworth Police Departments. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court, Skokie, unless indicated otherwise.

Wilmette

DUI

Police arrested Mary Sullivan, 57, of 911 Sheridan Road in Wilmette on Aug. 23 and charged her with driving under the influence of alcohol, following an incident that day which ended on the 3200 block of Lake Avenue. The report did not give her court date.

DRUGS

Police arrested Timothy J. Haymes, 24, of 930 Taylor Drive in Gurnee on Aug. 23 following a traffic stop, and charged him with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and speeding, after reportedly finding 30 grams of marijuana and a digital scale in the car he was driving, following a traffic stop at the intersection of Lake Avenue and Hibbard Road. The initial report did not give his court date.

Police issued local ordinance tickets on Aug. 19 for possessing marijuana to Jessica Valdes, 18, of 2215 Greenwood Ave. and to a 17-year-old Wilmette girl, following a traffic stop on the 2700 block of Lake Avenue. No court dates were mentioned in the initial report.

Police arrested Brandon Z. Odeh, 19, of 2455 The Strand in Northbrook, and charged him with possessing fewer than 2.5 grams of marijuana, following an Aug. 21 traffic incident that ended on the 4000 block of Lake Avenue. The initial report did not give Odeh’s court date.

DISORDERLY

Police arrested Richard Bryant, 55, of no known address, on Aug. 19, after responding to a request to check on the wellbeing of a man sleeping on a bench at the Linden CTA station, 349 Linden Ave. After officers checked him, they reportedly found that Bryant was wanted on a parole violation warrant in California. He was taken into custody and held until he could be delivered to the Cook County Sheriff’s fugitive warrant facility in Maywood on Aug. 20.

TRAFFIC

Police arrested Javier Ramirez, 31, of 2045 Georgetown Ave. in Waukegan on Aug. 18 and charged him with driving without a valid license, following a traffic incident that day on the 3500 block of Lake Avenue, in which an officer stopped the truck Ramirez was driving to check its weight.

Police arrested Tage Larsen, 43, of 1500 Central St., Apt. 473, in Evanston, and charged him with driving on a suspended license, following an Aug. 19 incident that ended on the 2700 block of Wilmette Avenue.

Police arrested Elsie Arriazola Pena, 52, of 1112 Dewey Ave., Apt. 2, in Evanston, on Aug. 20 following a traffic stop at the intersection of Lake Avenue and Romona Road, charging her with driving on a suspended license. The initial report did not provide her court date.

PROBATION

Police arrested Oskar Vahtra, 19, of 2046 W. Lake St. in Chicago, on Aug. 18, following an incident at Gillson Park at 11 p.m. An officer checking the identity of three people found at the park after closing time, discovered that Vahtra was wanted on a probation violation warrant. He was taken into custody, processed and released on bond. The initial report did not give a court date.

Kenilworth

ALCOHOL

Kenilworth police reported no criminal arrests or local ticket issuances for the week ending Aug. 25.
