What happened to summer? Somehow it’s almost over, and school is beginning. But I am sure many parents are ready for their kids to get back to school, especially their teenagers. And for most teenage girls, it’s all about school fashion.
Shannon Ridgeway, senior marketing director at Westfield Old Orchard, talked about the latest and greatest back-to-school trends for teenagers.
“A sturdy ankle bootie is an essential for girls. Pair them with fall-appropriate florals in deep tones and a moto jacket, and you’ve got a winning and comfortable look.” You can also pair this must-have item with jeans, denim shorts, leggings and skirts.
What about accessories? “A simple way for girls to update their back-to-school style is through a few statement accessories. I love the look of leather cuffs for fall, and Henri Bendel has such a cute turnlock version,” stated Ridgeway. She also recommended fashionable phone cases for carrying cell phones to school.
Another trend this season are graphic tees, which can be worn with just about everything from fun skirts to black leggings to jeans to add some life and fun to your look.
Denim, of course, is always a big trend in the school season. This year you’ll see more distressed or destroyed denim jeans and denim shorts. The rolled-up or cuffed denim jeans and shorts are a hot trend, too, in either the skinny fit and the boyfriend, or baggy, fit. Pair them with the graphic tee, the ankle bootie and your leather cuff, and you will be the most fashionable girl in school.
In review, the back-to-school trends this season are: distressed denim, rolled or cuffed jeans and shorts, graphic tees, ankle booties and statement accessories. Happy shopping, girls, and welcome back to school!
