At 107 years old, you might say that Jeannette Pitcher has seen it all, but she would be quick to tell you otherwise.

“While I’ve enjoyed many exciting adventures during my life and lived in quite a few different areas of the United States, I know there is much more that I haven’t done,” said Jeannette Pitcher. “My greatest joy is without a doubt my family.”

She also recently marked her one-year anniversary of moving to Presence Bethlehem Woods Retirement Community, 1571 W. Ogden Ave., LaGrange Park.

Born in Vermont on Dec. 25, 1906, Pitcher was one of 13 children and grew up on a farm. After marrying her husband, James, she lived in New York until he was transferred to Chicago. They raised their two sons, James and Eugene, in Wilmette. In addition to family life, Pitcher worked as a registered nurse and then as a Realtor.

From Chicago, she moved to Florida for 16 years, enjoying daily beach walks. In 1998, she moved back to the Chicago area to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

Pitcher has one sister, 97 years old, still living in Vermont, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
