Wilmette Police Blotter: Sleepy cabbie leads cops to stolen bike, alleged thief

The following arrests were listed among the official reports of the Wilmette and Kenilworth Police Departments. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court, Skokie, unless indicated otherwise.

Wilmette

DRUGS

Police issued a local ordinance ticket for possessing less than 10 grams of marijuana to Milan Milovanovic, 20, of 8923 N. Odell Ave. in Morton Grove, following an Aug. 5 traffic stop they made on the car he was driving on the 3200 block of Lake Avenue. The initial report didn’t give a court date.

THEFT

Marcus Wade, 34, of 1458 S. Canal St. in Chicago, is scheduled to appear Aug. 21 in Cook County Court in Skokie, on a felony theft charge, stemming from an Aug. 5 incident that ended on the 200 block of Maple Avenue. Police stated that Wade was stopped by officers shortly after 11 p.m., after a sleeping taxi driver parked near the CTA station at 4th St. and Linden Ave. woke up to see Wade learning against his car. Although Wade reportedly asked the taxi driver his rates and walked away, the driver became suspicious, called police on his mobile, and began following Wade. Officers arrived in time to spot Wade trying to pull a bicycle out of bushes on Maple; although he initially claimed it was his, he then acknowledged having stolen it, police reported. He was arrested; after further investigation, cooperation with Evanston police, and then finding a handwritten note with the location of another stolen bicycle on it, Wade reportedly admitted taking both bicycles.

TRAFFIC

Police cited Manuel Perez-Velazquez, 43, of 1771 W. Greenleaf St., Apt. 2, in Chicago, for driving without a license, following an Aug. 6 traffic incident that ended on the 800 block of 16th Street. The initial report didn’t give his court date.

Kenilworth

Kenilworth police reported no criminal activity or arrests for the week ended August 10.
