The city has cancelled this year’s version of the popular Duck Race and Pluck.
The annual event, where families join together and float toy boats in races to raise money for charity, had been scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 9 at Lovelace Park in northwest Evanston.
It was cancelled because conditions at Lovelace Pond “are not conducive to a successful event,” the city said Wednesday in a release. The event had been moved to Lovelace from the lakefront’s Arrington Lagoon, which is undergoing an extensive renovation this summer.
Next year, the event will move back to Arrington Lagoon, the city said.
