To give themselves more opportunity to discuss the proposed Winnetka campus renovation, the New Trier High School Board of Education has called a special meeting Thursday night.
Beginning at 7 p.m. in room C234 at the Northfield campus, 7 S. Happ Road, the meeting will include a community engagement update and presentations from Wight & Company and Pepper Construction.
At the board’s meeting Monday night, Board Member Greg Robitaille revealed the finance committee is recommending an increase the amount of district reserves used to fund the project, from $11 million to $13.5 million.
The district would still ask taxpayers for an $89 million referendum to complete the proposed west side renovation project at the Winnetka campus.
“The main topic [discussed] was the increase of the reserves to help fund the Winnetka campus project,” Robitaille said. “We have pretty well developed programming layouts of the facility, pretty well developed interior and exterior [renderings] and a new model to present.”
Board members praised the work between Pepper and Wight & Company and New Trier administrators, saying the process has been moving smoothly.
“I’m very impressed with their professionalism,” board member Peter Fischer said. “I think people will really like what we will show them on Thursday.”
A final special meeting will be called on Aug. 14, at which time the board will decide whether to place the $89 million referendum question on the November ballot.Tags: New Trier High School, New Trier High School Board of Education
