KENILWORTH — United Way’s “Party on the Parkway” takes place at 6 p.m. Thursday at in downtown Kenilworth.
Organizer Candice Kuhnen said she expects 300 people to take part in the fundraiser, which was last held in 2010 and attracted more than 200.
Party on the Parkway brings together local Park Drive and Green Bay Road businesses with area restaurants, organizer Candice Kuhnen said this week. Each restaurant will provide food for participants to enjoy as they walk through the downtown area and visit eight of the businesses.
Attendees will receive a passport, which will be stamped at each business. At the end of the evening, those who turn in a fully stamped passport will be eligible for a raffle drawing for a Cayman Islands trip, Kuhnen said.
The trip includes airfare and other arrangements. The evening also features a silent auction.
Donations are $25 per person, or $20 per person as a member of a couple. Reservations are not necessary, but can be made by calling 847-835-0126. Checks should be payable to the Kenilworth United Fund.
Attendees will register at Carol Knott Interiors, 521 Park Drive. They’ll visit Travel 100 Group, 519 Park, where Cafe Aroma and The Happ Inn will provide dishes. The next stop is Federalist Antiques, 515 Park, with dishes from Eclissi Italian Restaurant.
Other stops are Hackley & Associates Architects, Fenner Plastic Surgery, Miele Galleries, RRB Cycles, Kenilworth Asset Management and Sherwin-Williams.
The party also kicks off Porch Light Night, this year scheduled for Oct. 1.
For more than 70 years, Kenilworth United Way volunteers have gone door to door on the first Monday in October, seeking donations or leaving pledge cards and envelopes at homes.
Kenilworth’s United Fund began more than 80 years ago, and more than 43 percent of village residents support area service agencies, including: Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, North Shore Youth Health Service, Inc., Glenkirk, The Alliance for Early Childhood and Family Service Center.
