WILMETTE — The Wilmette Rotary Club honored three community leaders for exceptional service. Rev. Lori Lowe, interim minister of St. Augustine Episcopal Church in Wilmette, was praised for working closely with Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian, Jewish and Baha’i congregations and coordinating interfaith activities; Village President Chris Canning for helping navigate our village through difficult financial times by creatively filling budget shortfalls caused by the economy and Springfield; and Wilmette resident Keith Decker for assisting and serving children at a Guatemala orphanage and La Casa Norte in Cicero.
The Wilmette Rotary Club was founded in 1924 and conducts international, community, vocational and club service projects through various committees. Members meet noon Wednesdays for luncheon, speakers and fellowship at McCormick & Schmick’s Restaurant in Old Orchard. For information, check www.wilmetterotary.org.
