Wilmette, Kenilworth police blotter for week ending June 4, 2012

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Wilmette Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court, Skokie, unless indicated otherwise.
Wilmette
DRUGS
Two Wilmette teens were charged with possession of marijuana June 4 after police say they spotted them in Gilson Park just after midnight.
Thadeus Wezerek, 18, of 1424 Forest Avenue, was charged with posession of less than 30 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, while 18-year-old Justin Abrams, of 101 Westmoreland Drive, was charged with possession of less than 10 grams of marijuana.
BURGLARY
An employee of Carson’s department store reported June 2 that someone smashed the front passenger-side window of her vehicle while it was parked in the store’s parking lot, located at 3200 Lake Ave. Two cosmetic bags and a duffel bag, holding inside of it a pirate costume, were taken. Total loss was estimated at $1,200.
Two homeowners in the 600 block of Laurel Avenue reported that their garages had been entered sometime between the late evening of May 26 and the morning of May 27. At one home, a bike was taken. At the second home, two bikes were gone. At both homes, the garages were unlocked, as were the cars inside, which thieves also apparently entered.
DUI
Morgane Farlet, 20, of 21 Woodley Road, Winnetka, was charged May 30 at 1:15 a.m. with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop near the corner of Green Bay and Winnetka roads. She was released from police custody on an I-bond.
Latham Riley Bell, 39, of St. Louis, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol May 30 in the 2700 block of Glenview Road after police say he failed a field sobriety test and then refused both a blood and urine test. He was released from police custody on an I-bond.
DAMAGE
Someone smashed a window of a vehicle parked in the alley in the 1400 block of Forest Avenue sometime between 11 p.m. on May 30 and 9:30 a.m. on May 31.
THEFT
A representative of a gas station located in the 800 block of Skokie Boulevard reported that someone left without paying for $11 worth of diesel gasoline. Video surveillance revealed the person drove off in a Mercedes-Benz van.
A representative of a business in the 100 block of Green Bay Road reported that someone stole about $1,000 in tools left at the business sometime between May 21 and May 24. The business is in the process of being sold and is mostly empty, according to the report.
A resident in the 700 block of Ridge Road reported that a girl’s blue and black Mongoose trick bike was taken from a bike rack at the property sometime between May 29 and May 30. The bike had been locked. The loss is estimated at $75.
DRIVING OFFENSE
Miguel Calva, 27, of Whiting, Ind., was charged May 30 with driving without a valid driver’s license following a car accident near the corner of Lake Avenue and Skoie Boulevard.
